Monday 7th December


Welcome to our blog.  The children did brilliantly in all the Christmas plays and we were all extremely proud of them.

 
RE

This week we will be listening and learning how Mary learnt she was pregnant by the message of Angel Gabriel. We will also learn about how Mary and Joseph prepared for Christmas by travelling back to the place of their birth for the census.

Phonics

Years 1 and 2 will be concentrating air, eu, au, ng

Year two will be reviewing some of the phase five phonemes  that the children did not know when tested these are all the split digraphs this week.

Maths Year 2
This week we will be practising adding tens and ones to tens numbers. Then we will be moving onto adding teens numbers to two digit numbers. We will also be rounding numbers to 10 and 100.

English Year 2

This week we will be finishing writing up our King Midas stories and will be reading and composing winter poetry. The children will be exploring the theme of winter and what happens. They will be thinking about winter vocabulary too.

We will be doing Winter Poetry this week. The children will be brainstorming ideas about winter and working with a partner to think about how to construct winter sentences. They will be going on a winter walk around school to use their senses to see how winter makes them feel.

 
Maths

The children will be doing assessment in different areas of maths that we have covered this term.

Please keep going with the counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s.

 Topic

Being British

For the next part of our topic we will be finding out about the queen and her role as the monarch of  our country. We will be finding out that she is our longest reigning monarch and that she celebrates her 90th birthday next year.
